I asked the same of Fallout 4 once but turns out that game is boring trash, so now I ask it of this game which I apparently own and everyone calls "something real good like" (nobody calls it that) since I want to play it

also my old save doesn't work so, heck. might as well ask if mods should be a part of my New Vegas experience

I think Nevada Skies is a pretty good one that adds sandstorms and stuff, otherwise just say fuck it and install all the fallout equestria mods and do a trip report.

I use fook and jsawyer mod together as a Frankenstein rebalance effort, I kinda like the results my self.

Increased wasteland spawns is fun, if you don't mind the ludicrous number of fiends in outer vegas as a result.

I also put in a mojave music radio extension and it introduced me to chisholm traul camma tay aye yippe yippe yay.

Okay it's Nevada Skies being a shit. It seems to be forcing the Tale of Two Wastelands version... somehow and then whines and moans when it's missing files and shits the whole bed. How do I stop it from being a fuck

okay so New Vegas just refuses to work anymore after a bit of modding. not after adding new mods mind you, oh no it just went "nah" and decided it'd rather not load in properly anymore despite working just fine for hours

game sucks I'm uninstalling it

downloading and installing mods is the entire game, once you have enough mods that the process won't boot anymore you've won. you can start a new game by uninstalling, deleting the data folder and reinstalling.

edit: to be a really hardcore player do this all without a mod manager and delete your downloads folder before starting up again

I think my biggest problem is that it's kind of boring to play because the basic movement and aiming etc. is just janky and unresponsive

despite being played from the first person and guns being your primary method of combat, the actual shooting and first personing part is blah, so it makes traveling to and from places a bit of a chore and combat encounters kind of miserable. even when you try to be clever and sneaky you'll usually find there's some stupid quirk you didn't account for that means you end up having to shoot anyway

idk it might actually be more fun if you give yourself ridiculous amounts of levels and buff your skills/attributes out right from the start and then pretend to be a god when you have to shoot things. for an RPG that's kind of bizarre

It's definitely more of a "story" game than an action game.

I mean considering the groundwork was laid out by bethesda, one does have to expect the combat is uh... well bethesda combat

On my first playthrough everything was new and mysterious, so I probably didn't notice how much you walk around the empty wasteland like i did on subsequent playthroughs.

The best way I found to remove frustration from combat was to recruit Boone and trash mobs would suddenly disappear, slow-motion, far away in blood red mist because he's that good

I just decided to haul ass directly to Vegas without completing any of the Goodsprings sidequest crap but then the game crashed once I killed a giant radscorpion

is there some buggy-ass technically-sequence-breaking-but-not-really-since-this-an-RPG way of completing the game by doing that btw
