call of duty (cod) is bad
it wasn't always, but somewhere around the Fourth Numbered One (aka Cry of Role the 4th: Present Combat), it kinda hit it's peak and then afterwards, it started on a downward spiral towards garbage
and i've been kinda thinking about that fourth game alot and how, in my eyes, it got things right that always felt to me like they forgot about immediately after that game
maybe i'll think about writing too many words about it or something, i dunno

I've never played any of them, but what stands out most in my mind about the series (aside from how utterly generic it feels thanks to its rapid release schedule, and the meme value of pressing F) is the "No Russian" mission from MW2. To this day it still feels like that was just put there as a publicity stunt, trying to shock the gaming world into paying attention into yet another Call of Duty title.

It pretty much was. GTA 4 was released a year prior and had you being just as much of a mass murderer, but COD was trying to pretend they're the first to do it.

One has to wonder why No Russian is the thing a COD game lets you skip, but not the many brutal torture scenes in the later (mostly Treyarch) CODs.

I always enjoyed playing the COD campaigns (don't really care about the multiplayer) since they were basically playing quick dumb action movies I could get through in a short rental period
I've played every one up through Advanced Warfare but haven't touched any of the newer ones though because I cancelled my gamefly account and these games never go on sale at a decent price because of activision
