Going into these finals I was thinking that it's the team from the city with too many titles vs. the team that shall never win the Cup, and while I'd wanted to see the Blues stuck with their curse, the Bruins getting stymied at the very end is definitely an acceptable consolation prize. Tomorrow I should go see what the current oldest team is to never have won, now.
Longest drought overall is Toronto (51 years), longest drought for a team with no cups is a tie between Buffalo and Vancouver (48 years)

I'd say get ready for whining from Leafs fans, but at least for right now I suppose they have the Raptors to distract them.

Not that I'm complaining because now our division is easier, but whaaaaat are you doing, Nashville?

Legend has it that the Subban-Weber trade happened because of us and the Habs being next to each other at the NHL Draft, with the tables for the teams sorted in alphabetical order. If Montreal's on one side of Nashville, who is on the other? That's right...

But really, even knowing that David Poile is an absolute wizard of a GM, I still boggled a bit at this.

CBJ also lost Panarin to the Rangers. They're pretty fucked next season!

Having a goal called off always sucks. Having a PPG called off is even worse. Having it be the first goal of the season, when you're opening at home, is just depressing.

At any rate, here's to a great season. Dear Preds, depending on where I end up after I graduate I might actually be able to regularly watch or even attend games again, so some hockey in June would be much appreciated.

Their defense is gonna be scary good soon. They'll be definite Stanley Cup material over the next couple years.

After three games, my hockey team is 1-1-1.

Perfectly balanced, as all things should be. :twiright:

Av's dominance continues.

They mount a comback against the Panthers to win in OT.

Then they play the Lightning the next day, and kick their butts. :scheming:

:applejargh: Blues next.

And Avs lost to the Blues, in the first game this season where they just weren't looking very good at all. :fluttersmith:

Still been one heck of a road trip so far.

:gonkity:

Was skating hard for a loose puck at the same time as an opponent going in the opposite direction. My stick got wedged between my arm and his leg and fortunately for both of our limbs, the stick snapped first. My elbow got hyper-extended a bit and felt really wonky for like 10 minutes, but it's been fine since then. Hopefully new sticks will arrive in time for my next game in 8 days.

Tonight I sure do feel sorry for any Blackhawks fans who are still coming down to Nashville and finding a way in past our ticket sales policies. :allears:

(Dear Preds, I wouldn't post this now if I didn't have to get up in the morning, so please don't make me have to eat these words.)

Hurricanes had to use the emergency goaltender tonight, playing in Toronto.

He helped keep the team's lead, got the first star of the game, and a standing ovation from the Leaf's crowd. :flutterunsmith:

Blackhawks were down 2-0 in the third period to the Lightning in Tampa Bay, then they scored 5 straight goals, including Kubalik getting his first NHL hat trick. What a game! :yay:

We just had a big night down here, too. The Flames were up 2-1 until we tied it with five minutes left, but then they pull ahead with a goal at 19:17. That should have sucked the life out of Bridgestone Arena, but 0.2 seconds before the final horn blew, Mikael Granlund decided it was time for a pair of next level plays.

The loser point for Calgary was enough to keep them in the first wildcard slot and us in the second, but still, it's been one hell of a turnaround for the team since firing Lavy.

No surprise:

I'd ask if it's October yet, but maybe they'll pick back up in June and run playoffs based on the current standings or something.
