So we had a nice long thread about this show wiped out by last fall's hacking, and the show has been done since Februrary 2016 so of course there was no thread yet. I'm reviving a general thread for Gravity Falls for 3 reasons -
- I still recommend anyone here who hasn't watched the show to get on it. It's still one of the top 5 cartoons to air this decade and gives Avatar: The Last Airbender a run for its money for quite awhile.
- A complete series DVD/Blu-Ray set came out just recently, including deleted scenes and commentary on every episode. Won't be getting this myself, but in a month or so I'll definitely go browsing for interesting tidbits.
- Alex Hirsch just wrote and released an expansion graphic novel for the series. 4 mini-stories that fill in gaps in-between episodes/events of the actual show. A couple of these directly address some of the biggest complaints of the series and are really well-written. Highly recommended.

Re: Gravity Falls: Still lurking in the background
Gravity Falls was, for quite a while, my favorite cartoon. I don't love every episode, but the comedy really appealed to me and the writing in general was both smart and satisfying. It's one of those shows where my list of favorite episodes is so long that it's difficult for me to narrow down an "overall best". I've been meaning to read the comic.
I'm mostly thinking about the show again because of the news of Alex Hirsch's promising deal with Netflix.
