The crystal gems now have like 8 members. I'm hoping come season 8 they make a new opening!

What if Yellow, Blue and Steven decide to repair the galaxy warp to allow gems and people to move freely between worlds?

You could even call the following episode "Welcome to Earth".

There's quite a gap between "the Diamonds decide not to kill Steven" and "the Diamonds decide to change how society is run". They could still look at Garnet and say "Well we can't have that around here", despite what "Pink Diamond" wants.

Well that's why they'd open the warp. Not to make Homeworld better but to turn Earth into a dumping ground for its undesirables, because Steven clearly wishes to offer them sanctuary.

So on Steven's side of the border you get him saying "Welcome to Earth" but on the gem side of the border you have one hell of a checkpoint.

If finishing the colony and fully releasing the cluster are off the cards, the only things the diamonds would want from Earth are visiting rights and maybe an attempt at a slippery slope of resource grabbing. "oh just one little kindergarten here won't hurt".

Steven would also want the open border, because he knows that other gems in homeworld are seeking refuge from their regime, gems like the off colours.

The diamonds would like to send in some Peridots and get out some new gems. Steven would like to receive some off colours and give them a home.

I think it'd work for a limited time, until Steven realises that homeworld needs to change. Having one planet be a sanctuary for all the empire's issues is not enough.

Whether or not the galaxy warp gets involved, there's going to be some kind of diplomacy going on. Goodness knows that when Ronaldo makes a passing comment it's usually some hint at what's going to happen in the future.

There's a lot which can be negotiated, and it could start at Lars getting captured by Emerald.

Binged through the past nine episodes before leaving on my road trip. I have a lot to unpack here, physically and figuratively.

Even a literal gay wedding still wasn't as gay as flashback-Pearl's glances at Rose/Pink. Also, I guess even more of this is Pearl's fault than we ever imagined. No wonder she compartmentalizes so much.

Uh, Amethyst is the most majestic horse ever.

"I'm a horse" :trixyay:

I... really wanted that hand to crush Ronaldo...

I wasn't expecting Bismuth to be back and it felt a little tacked on. In-universe, it definitely fits with Steven's character to do something like that and it got us a memeable reaction sequence with the lava scream.

Most of all, I'm happy Lapis is back. Still my favorite and most relatable character, even moreso now with how much strength she draws from her own depression and trauma; seemingly the most powerful non-Diamond, non-fusion Gem. I feel with the way that Blue instantly recognized her and the long talk she needs to have with Peridot, there's definitely more exploration to be done with her, past and future (and another gay wedding because we already broke that dam so why the hell not?)

""You could drop the barn on the beach" :-I

So... yeah, now we wait another three months, right? I feel like I could rewatch most of the series over that time period...

I wonder about something.

When the explorer whose name I forget met Rose, she was alone in the desert. Well, she was hanging out with lions.

This is the same place where Pink's spaceship is landed, and where her dumping grounds are.

Pearl doesn't know about her lion, and I'm starting to assume that Rose was alone for what could be a long while. What was Rose's desert adventure about?

My theory, and as always it's a bit far out and unlikely:

Rose looked back. She didn't turn into Pink again, but she had to think about it. The only evidence I'm fronting for this is that Lion knows his way to the moon base. Rose was there for a thing that Pearl didn't know about.

I think she was considering it: considering confessing and going back.

When it came to Homeworld Gems getting involved with the Crystal Gems and what "the Diamonds" knew, it was always just Yellow, wasn't it? I wonder if she was kept in the dark about the happenings on Earth, and her attack happened more or less as soon as Yellow finally filled her in.

Makes Garnet's fear of getting found out back in Steven's Dream a lot more justified.

To give the benefit of the doubt, Yellow might have cottoned on that intel was somehow leaking between pink and the rebellion. Or it could be as simple as a sapphire mentioning that anything you tell Pink will somehow result in the rebellion evading it.

Theory: In the end Yellow and Blue Diamond think that they were manipulated by White Diamond.
Later it turns out that White Diamond did this because there is a bigger threat to the universe that needs to be defeated.
Why else do the Gems need more population (i.e. resources), when they do not need to eat or consume something to live?
You only need more population (soldiers primarily like Amethyst or Jasper) when there is a loss of that population or a loss is to be expected.

I just remembered that they still haven't explained what Peridot meant when she said

"You're going to harvest me?"

My assumption is that it means that Peridot's gem can be decomposed in order to be used for other things or make other gems.

I expect that the show will be ending soon. Although, "soon" is a vague category due to the way CN actually airs this.

I don't know. Now that Steven has learned a whole new facet of his identity, it could take some time to finish the story.

Steven took this long to figure out how to be a human and a crystal gem when those two things are often at odds with one another or meant different things. Steven has now learned that he is a homeworld aristocrat. He's got to figure out how much he goes into that particular part of himself and what that's going to mean given the other two facets of his identity.

That has potential to go on for a bit.

The show doesn't just explore how Steven's identities impact on Steven, it has a knack for going into how that affects the crystal gems and the townsfolk in small as well as large ways. It showed Steven trying to convince people not to jump in Rose's moss. It showed Steven trying to convince Gems to celebrate their birthday. It showed the crystal gems struggling in how to approach Steven. It showed the townspeople worrying about Steven and sometimes worrying about themselves in relation to the crystal gems. The show spends a hell of a lot of time showing us how Steven being Steven creates a lot of head scratching for everyone around him. Five seasons, in fact.

All of this was just because Steven is both human and crystal gem. Now we have a whole new intersection for Steven: he's a homeworld aristocrat. Reconciling being a homeworld aristocrat with being a crystal gem and being a human has the potential to be a clusterfuck of interpersonal issues and conflicts between the homeworld authorities, the crystal gems and the ordinary folk on Earth. Not just in a big way, like whether Earth needs to be blown up or not, but in all the personal ways.

The show's been dumping a lot of plot relevent stuff all of a sudden. To me that looks like the show is entering it's final season/s.

There's a cynical part of me that's thinking "Support body positivity - BUY OUR SOAP". It's an improvement on "want sexy ladies? Buy our soap" but still.

When I went to school, some classes did a secret santa. I was always given body washes and soaps. People always said I stank, even when I was in a trade school. I bathe, but I've got a bo issue that sometimes flared up at certain periods of time.... Lol.

Either way, I love this stuff they did with the dove and hope they'll also bring in sugilote and alexandrite

In Jungle Moon, flashback-Yellow starts by telling a Nephrite off about the organic life on the planet. I'm getting the impression that the whole "we need to preserve this planet's life" thing comes up a lot among gemkind. I wonder how often rebellions over it start now. I wouldn't be surprised if the Earth was the only success, and only then due to the special circumstances.

There's a movie coming.

A new episode was shown at SDCC, and will apparently be put online officially today or tomorrow.

There is a leaked image of what White Diamond looks like.

CN has called linked episodes for some of their other shows a “movie event” in the past, so it could just be a multi-part story that they don’t want to air as a Stevenbomb. We’ll find out eventually either way.

This might be a bit slow of me but it just occurred to me why Pearl covers her mouth specifically. Pink Diamond put Pearl's hand over her mouth when she made her vow to remain silent over the matter. It's completely involuntary.

I now need to go back and watch the whole show because I'm willing to bet she covers her mouth a lot more than I remember.
