As for title songs go this new one is missing the point. The old one, while not one of my favorites, was catchy and melodic throughout. The new one loses the catchyness especially in the first few seconds with the very slow barber-shop style beginning and the pair of melodic interruptions. When it started to gain some traction towards the end the melody stops abruptly before it had any chance to enter the brain.

It's so beautiful tho. And like.... So many questions and curiosity. Like...
who the heck those lapises are
Who the heck is fused with Aquamarine
The heck is up with White diamond
What is the Steven cactus

I can't wait!

I really hope they go more into Lapis's background and other Gem stuff nstead of throwing out more new characters and expecting us to care about them.

Rose killed those Lapise's dogs 6000 years ago, so they're out for revenge.
Aquamarine is fused with Gem that Rose cut in line in front of 6500 years ago, she's out for revenge.
That's Pink's old Pearl that you know, Rose abandoned. So she's out for revenge.
Rose actually destroyed the cactus home planet, and it's out for revenge.

Rose Buds hit closer to home for me. Stevens relationship with his mother has been the arc the series revolves around and while it was good to give Pearl a chance to confront the fact that PD was both Abused and Abuser, it was something well covered before then in Stevens emotional journey.

As well, having thought you escaped your emotional baggage only to find it showing up on your doorstep and being unable to stop it from hurting other people hits a lot closer to home for me.

Episodes were crazy.

My DVR didn't record them cuz att didn't show them as airing. So I had to be sneaky watching reaction vids.

Episodes were still crazy

I wish Steven had been given more time to get to know the Rose Quartzes without being paralyzed by their mutual baggage, but the episode ended basically as soon as they reconciled. Pearl being able to connect with Volleyball and support her was the element that left the biggest impact on me in episode 4, and I think episode 3 could have benefited from a little bit of that at the very end.

They're both good episodes, though.

I will say having started rewatching the series as part of my typical nostalgia tour after a new season I strongly suggest comparing Steven Universe Future: 4 to Steven Universe 16: Steven the Swordfighter

Steven the Sword fighter (my favorite episode of SU) is about disassociating the negative traits and PTSD inducing outbursts of a caregiver from their positive contributions. This is further covered in regards to Pearl in SU 28: Space Race and SU 46: Rose Scabbard, but I always felt that Steven the Sword fighter covered it most concisely.

Steven Universe Future: 4 is about reconciling these negative and positive associations of a caregiver into a more complete whole idea of a person, and may ultimately be the theme of Steven Universe Future.

Bluebird was adorable but annoying if just a bit of a dick for what she did to Greg. Rip his flowing hair

Rainbow's song was cute, not a bop or going on my list, but not a stinker. His VA isn't a bad singer.

Lapis song is sweet
Freckles was cute

Pearl being over her shape shifting aversion was so amazing. Garnet flipping out the same way she did when Steven and Connie first fused, was refreshing... So many Steven's, Sapphire Steven was my favorite,

I'm really confused if Episode 10 is the end of the run or not because boy if it is "I think I've said enough." is one hell of a way to leave things off

also we haven't seen Connie at all and there are two implied antagonists in the opening that I'm pretty sure we haven't actually dealt with so like there has to be a little bit more left right

There's more left, this is likely a twelve episode order, meaning twenty four eleven minute episodes, we've seen twelve, and now we're going into hiatus.

Jesus Christ Prickly Pair is fucked up when you analyze it. It may outdo Steven the Swordfighter as my favorite episode.

So Steven accidentally creates life as a teenager by sowing his seed without protection.

Then he proceeds to replicate both the terrible parental habits of the Diamonds and the Crystal Gems. Like the Crystal Gems, he relies on a barely formed child for emotional support and as someone to confide in, and like the Diamonds he locks Cactus Steven away when Cactus Steven starts acting out because of what Steven told him.

Steven Universe has always been low-key about abuse and the abuse cycle, but watching the protagonist replicate it after doing so much to try to break the cycle is just too real.

Alright, this one snuck past me. This is what I get for not keeping up on these kind of things. Then again, I assumed after the defeat of the Diamonds the show was just over. I wonder what new adventures await. :allears:

Episdoe - 01 - Little Homeschool
He touched the plunger with his hand. Super gross.
:smooze:

Why does Steven cure the corrupted Gems in his bathroom and then drive them to Little Homeschool? Why not, I donno, do it there?
:rariwhat:

I never knew who the Gems were fighting before all this. I mean before the rebellion. The Gems were never shown to have any enemies before. Why did they need to train warriors?
:ponder:

I guess telling Steven he sucks unlocked a new power. Strange it took him this late in life to hear that. I guess he was sheltered?

Forget the Jasper 'but how would've Piccolo and Gohan really ended?' episode - Mr. Universe 'you're going to fuck up as a parent, and even if you admit it, its unforgivable' was a punch to the gut. A lot of that looked boarded directly by Sugar.
