I don't understand why you would downplay an amazing and rare feat in baseball, especially when he made an incredible slide to avoid the tag as well. A player has stolen home 7 times this season and Javy Baez is two of them.
because it's not amazing and rare when it's not a straight steal.

now granted it wasn't on a double steal, it was a failed pickoff then a throw home, a degree of difficulty harder. but nothing is close to as hard as a straight steal.

More players have hit 3 homers in a game in 2018 than stolen home, so yeah it is pretty rare and amazing.

Chris Davis tied Cal Ripken for most strikeouts by an Oriole. But he did it in 2,029 fewer games. :v:

His contract has probably been the worst one in history. They still owe him $23 million per year for the next 4 years and his current bWAR for the year 2018 is -2.3. :nngh:

with the current general hitting approach / climate, 3 HR games aren't as rare as before, so... :pinkieshrug:

going to have to agree to disagree on this one.

All-Star rosters announced!

Cubs get Baez and Contreras starting, with Lester as a pitcher. :yay:

speaking of the Orioles have played effective spoiler against the Yankees, going 5-4 so far on the season. (they are now 26-66.)

Mike Matheny finally got canned. As a Cubs fan, this upsets me. I wanted him to keep coaching the Cardinals terribly forever. :grumpydash:

The Cubs will have the best record in the NL going into the All-Star break. :yay:

Bryce Harper wins the HR Derby at home!

Kyle Schwarber did a great job, losing in the finals to the favorite, and Javy hit the longest homer of the night, so I'm proud of both Cubs. :flutterunsmith:

The All-Star Game this year was basically the Home Run Derby, part II.

I mean he's not what he used to be, but it's better than watching Chatwood walk 6 batters a game.

also man the AL is so firmly divided between a few really good teams and a lot of really bad teams, the playoff odds graph is hilarious

You can really see just how huge of an effect the Mariners sweep of the Angels last week had

The Cubs turned SEVEN double plays in a 9-inning game against the Pirates. That ties the record with this game from 1969. :starity:

At least he'll have to drive through Boystown to get to Wrigley every day.

Great job, Cubs. You don't control your own destiny anymore and now you need the Tigers pitcher with a 5.22 ERA today or the one with the 5.73 ERA tomorrow to beat the seemingly unstoppable Brewers.

Both the NL West and the NL Central are tied going into the final day. The Tigers suck and have been rolling over for the Brewers, and the Nats have decided they're not starting Scherzer in the last game vs the Rockies, so I'm expecting Cubs/Dodgers in the Wild Card Game.

Dodgers, Brewers and Rockies won by a combined score of 38-0. 38-0! I know it's the season to pound on the teams that are out of it but that's insane.

the Cubs have struggled here and there today but still lead 10=5 with an inning to go. If that holds up, it's a 1:05pm NL Central tiebreaker tomorrow. A 4:09 NL West tiebreaker is guaranteed for tomorrow.

mariners finished with 89 wins which would have been enough to make the playoffs any of the past 4 seasons. instead, this year they end up 6 games out of a playoff spot :smith:

truly we are now the most cursed team in baseball

die oakland, die houston, who cares about anyone else
