The one about the dude drowning in the shower is fascinating to me. I can just imagine it was the product of a writer who, having grown up during the Depression, had only recently experienced indoor plumbing firsthand and was as terrified of the idea of an automated water delivery system as a lot of people nowadays are of self-driving cars. Surely anything not reliant on constant human effort is just an accident waiting to happen!

I used to read Cracked a lot, and judging from that article it's still plenty funny. I just can't stand how over-designed its website is now. Switch tabs for a second? Enjoy having to mouse through a dropdown that takes up 75% of the screen when you invariably mouse over their menu bar as you switch back to the tab. And whatever asynchronous image loading process their web developers have cooked up to deal with how many images are in their articles just breaks a lot. I had to turn adblock off for that page because the ads not loading fucked up future images loading half the time, and even after that they load slowly and eat up a ton of memory doing so. Very rarely do singular webpages throw memory warnings in my browser (usually it's just Tumblr when I haven't checked it in a day+), and even rarer are those that eat up so much memory that it actually makes my whole computer run slower. This wasn't even an infinite scrolling thing. This was one article! Go back to having multiple pages for the big ones! Please!

Anyway, dumb technology rant over. Article good. Old comics weird.
