i'm watching lgr play sims 4 tiny living on his new blerbs channel

and i'm just thinking, while sims 4 has a much better make a sim, i just never stick to the game itself, i played sims 2 far more

i think what's always a problem for me is i just don't like the interface and especially the buy/build mode

the fact that they stripped the games for dlc on top of the constant expansions killed all sims past 2

it just feels awkard to use and it really gets frustrating when the game refuses to build a wall and i can't find anything that's blocking it or the wallpaper and floor stuff won't cooperate

i mean, the dlc thing is a problem, but i'm more talking usability

it's like in sims 2 i could modify or build a house, but in sims 4 i'm fighting with the game over where i can/can't place a wall or if it will paint all my walls or just the walls up to the room that i deleted but the game still seems to think is there

I assume this is a Sims clone, but my first thought upon seeing that title was a mashup of Spore and The Sims where you're a parasite living in a Sim's body and you have to try to guide your host into doing things that help you grow, evolve, and reproduce.

my cycle with the sims past 1 was make a family, cheat money, build elaborate cool houses, get bored quickly of the regular gameplay loop, and then start making new houses

in sims 2 i created a town that was basically supposed to be a secret lab

so all the buildings were blocky and gray to look like bunkers and had a wall around them with a guardhouse

and i made sure all the sims were in labcoats and uniforms for the aesthetic

thankfully i found the difficulty setting and set it on easy, so i'll start over

turned off texture filtering for weapons and sprites, left it on for scenery

i don't see any changes/issues with the surroundings, but with the gun and enemies, yeah, no filtering makes them less blurry

it's not what i expected from a shooter from the era, it's slower and more story focused (said story being delivered through terminals)

For games that mighta passed your vision, Shadowcaster was a wolf3d engine game that was basically the first game in the Heretic series in regards to setting and who made it.
