How's secret level finding been going, blake stone has 1 per episode or whatever they call it, and the same for doom

Inferno's secret level is really neat conceptually to my brain

i haven't found the secret levels in blake stone, but i've also only been trying it out to see if i set everything up

doom, i've had luck finding secrets, but i haven't run into the secret level yet

also if you ever go "gee I like this retro fps level design but I'd rather play as a rad lady instead with an anime sword" well luckily there's a mod for that

and if you ever go "gee I wanna play as a cowboy who's been possessed by a huge demon lady and sometimes I can transform into her" they have that too

and if you ever go "I wanna play as a mega man X oc do not steal lady" well they have that too

and if you ever go "I dunno... golf?"

The secret exit for episode 3 in doom is in Mt Erebus, which is level 6 so you have a little time before that pops up

Only the SNES and recent ports have edited the swastikas to be some weird other shape. Or the german version, but I think that one just removes the flag entirely.

Spear of Destiny's level design is better in general compared to the original but I still like both.

The SOD mission packs are very different and you'll either like them or hate them depending on what kind of level design you prefer. The big upside though is that the voices are done by actual germans instead of Tom Hall yelling random german poorly

Oh, another good Wolf3D game is Super 3d Noah's Ark. Despite what you'd imagine, it has some great level design, and more weapon diversity than Wolf3d (It has projectile weapons)

Yeah, the official version you can buy on steam uses an ECWolf fork so it doesn't need a source port.

Rise of the Triad's best port is unfortunately indeed vanilla. WinRoTT literally breaks certain secrets and mechanics, and later on you end up not even seeing a certain enemy type because enemy spawns are broken. DOSBOX is the way to go.
