What makes me chuckle about the Appledash reveal scene is the dialogue, where they frame it as a bit of gentle dishing back and forth between them about chores.
Which reminded me, somehow, of an episode of The Golden Girls where the plot was that Rose implied to a talk show that her two roommates Blanche and Dorothy were a lesbian couple. This being the 80s, "lesbians" was a thing that was so insane that they had to put the two of them on stage and do a whole episode of Sally Jessie or something about what it's like to be gay women, and they had to pretend for the sake of the camera because otherwise Rose would be humiliated by having promised show content she couldn't deliver.
So the two of them go on the show and the panelist and audience are asking them these gawking questions, like the two of them are exhibits at a zoo, which is I guess par for the course for the time, and Blanche is sort of enjoying the spectacle and being the center of attention, but Dorothy is freaking out and keeps getting dragged further and further out of her comfort zone. It went something like this:
Do the two of you have "male" and "female" roles in your relationship?
Well I am quite the little homemaker if that's what you mean!
I see, and what about you Dorothy?
NOW JUST A MINUTE
*glances over at Rose*
... And I take out the garbage.
