Re: shipping confession
are there any ships about actual ships. not like, anthropomorphized ships, but like, just literal sentient ships that wanna date, like, a monster truck?

and also we didn't become a platform for sharing which children's cartoon character you busted a nut to, which I think is a well good thing. I don't think being the non-weird choice location for liking kids shows was a bad thing since it makes this site far more presentable to an outside viewer but also to ourselvesDaikatunaRevengeance wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 5:02 pmand then the rest of the fandom turned into nazis

Re: shipping confession
This is a pretty predictable outcome whenever ponygoons start protesting too much about anything, fwiw, and you're far from being the "worst" (for one thing, you eventually came around). There are/were a relative shitload of these cases on these forums, and there are some that most folks still don't know about. I know this for a fact, both from personal interactions and from reputable reports.
Some of them were the shipper/furry types who were just trying to lay low and who came out when they could. Others were folks who had a genuine change of heart when they got more familiar with it. The current population of PPPP is pretty self-selecting for these cases, in the sense that if you actually, legitimately hate, e.g., furries you're either probably not around anymore or you are Aramek, who is sui generis in that regard. But there are/were a nonzero number of Ted Haggard-type hateful hypocrites. In one case, a friend of mine said some pretty nasty stuff and then, when I reached out to them privately to let them know that it bothered me and I wasn't sure if I could keep being their friend, revealed that they were actually a closet case. (That one ended up being one of the happy endings, at least in the immediate term.) Then you have ROBOT B9, who wasn't a hypocrite in the particular sense that he was guilty of exactly what he railed against, but had unexamined issues of his own that ended up reflecting more poorly on the community and causing more actual concrete harm than shipping or sexualization or whatever he didn't like.
Anyway, yeah. I can pretty much set my watch by this thing at this point, at least in the general case.

Re: shipping confession
ROBOT B9, yeah. I don't remember exactly. Wasn't he fervently anti-shipping and then eventually banned for creepy behavior towards lady ponygoons?
Ah, none of my business, really. I just remember some drama involving him back then.

Generally, yeah. I rightly don't know all the details and they're beside the point, which is that a (not really) surprising number of the pearl clutchers ended up dripping with televangelist-tier levels of hypocrisy and shittiness

Re: shipping confession
The sad thing is that a lot of the shitty hypocrites here were not nearly that bad, in the sense that they weren't actually victimizing anyone except via their intolerance and hostility, which is still shitty but usually not on the order of ruining people's lives. B9 was an exception, but even he was not (as far as I know) an actual rapist, let alone of children.
e: to clarify because the phrasing might sound odd, I say it's a sad thing in the sense that it's sad these people can't just take the giant stick out of their butts, even though it's a much, much lower bar to cross than "make amends for Doing Actual Rapes"

Not to be confused with "ceke" or "popsi" which is something else entirely.

Want to update on this. I like shipping now, but mostly between OCs (whether my own or my artist friends' OCs)

Re: shipping confession
I was feverently against it back in 2013. I didn’t want to be one of those weirdos I told myself. Yet as the years passed I came to enjoy it mainly thanks to some incredible fanfics where romance was included.
I don’t really have a “ship” however, I mainly like the what if’s and the story a pairing can bring out. I’m still disappointed we didn’t get any stories close to that in the series. Seeing Shining Armor being a tremendous dork while winning Cadance over, or even Pinkie and Cheese’s first date would’ve been fun.

Re: shipping confession
This is about how I feel regarding shipping as well. I always thought of it in terms of what would make a good story for the show, not so much out of a sense of personal attachment.Dal wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 7:38 amI don’t really have a “ship” however, I mainly like the what if’s and the story a pairing can bring out. It's as heavily implied to be canon as the show's crew could make it be without making the cowards at Hasbro panic.
