the ghoul school kids made an appearance in ok ko, albeit they were older. one of the main characters from OK KO used to go there.

That scene happens like right at the start so there's still over an hour of characterization and cute monster friends, so no wonder it's well renowned!

Also, the Scooby Doo movies are great because they're responsible for Ultra Instinct Shaggy:

Too bad ghoul school never got a sequel, godzilla's kid was one of the new students at the end of the first movie and that woulda been very silly

Mystery Incorporated is one of 2 Scooby Doo things I like. The other being the Scooby Apocalypse comic series.
I want a MI sequel series dammit.

Isn't Scooby Apocalypse, like, distressingly edgy, though?

It's less edgy than Chilling Tales of Sabrina or Afterlife With Archie which are also excellent horror redoes of a more wholesome ip. (Scooby Apocalypse isn't as good either but it FINISHED. )Perpetual Motion wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2019 1:39 amIsn't Scooby Apocalypse, like, distressingly edgy, though?
There is good dark and bad dark. Good makes you care and root for your heroes. Bad is just grimdark nonsense that clearly loathes the source material ala 90% of what Garth Ennis' career is.

how does one know whether or not they're the dark and edgy version of themselves?
i mean, if you're the evil version of yourself you have a goatee, or wear your bdsm gear all the time in public, or some combination of both. but dark and edgy you... how do you tell whether you're the dark and edgy counterpart instead of just being dressed cool?

what i'm saying is we need to hunt down these edgy duplicates and put a stop to their edginess, because we are compelled to by the edgy story beats. being hunted by people is pretty much the default edgy story state.

Re: get in the van loser we've got a mystery on our hands
And that's a wrap! Thanks a lot for coming out, everybody!
The Curse of the 13th Ghost is the definite winner of this batch, it's everything I wanted it to be and a great wacky ass thing.
The Bobby Flay movie is a pretty by the numbers "here's a movie length scooby episode featuring your favorite characters from the food network" so you know you get what you expect.
Return to Zombie Island is a tiny bit of a letdown. It's super weird and nothing about it is what I expected but it spends too much time with the heroes resisting the call to action in service of an extended bit that just isn't very fun. More importantly, it is not Terror Time at any point in the film and that is unforgivable. There's a musical chase sequence but it's set to upbeat BA BA BA 60s pop instead of 90s butt rock and that is the most bafflingly wrong decision they could have possibly made.
This has been the scooby doo review remember to smash that like button and click the little bell

Re: get in the van loser we've got a mystery on our hands
I only watched the 13th Ghost and Bobby Flay movies, but agreed the former was definitely the winner.
I just enjoyed how absolute bonkers that film was, and Maurice LaMarche nailed it. He's best known for doing Orson Wells impression, but he did a pretty good Vincent Price as well. ALL THAT GHOST PUN.
