welp the season 4 premier of rick and morty happened

I feel like they were trying to make a joke about dragon fetishists or something but I just came out of it wondering if there actually was a joke at all and one of the writers has a deeply-suppressed fetish that they were trying to make fun of as a coping mechanism, but failed to actually do so. That's what I thought of that episode.

Judging from the behind the scenes video, this episode was basically a bunch of ideas they thought were funny and made an episode out of without really thinking more about it.

It had some parts that were funny, and the pacing felt more normal than other recent episodes, but the cat story was definitely a big

from the writers.

I thought the cat was the best part but that's mainly because I have good injoke memories of the movie that I *think* it references anyway. DR and PM pointed out one of those in-jokes.

I just didn't get the rest of the episode. It didn't make me groan or mad or anything, it just left me feeling neutral and convinced someone on the writing team is a huge dragon fetishist.

Also this episode was probably a riff on Dragonheart, although all the sex stuff feels like a Roilland addition.

Also also, one of the animators is a goon, who posted:

Five years ago I came to this thread to proudly share with my fellow goons that I would be working on this show. And the first question a goon asked me was . "Will you hide a dragon dildo into the show for us?" I can now say that I have drawn a dragon dildo in the show, and I did not have to hide it.

I stopped caring about the Xanth novels once everything began to revolve around terrible puns, and even before that women were not treated well so I'm not exactly surprised.

Okay my shameful admission is I loved Eragon at the age of 12 and didn't even fully grasp how much of a LotR/Star Wars ripoff it was at the time despite seeing/reading both.

And yes holy fuck were the elves in it insufferable. Like holy shit at least the elves in LotR were dying off and it was turning into the age of man.
