Dirty Pair is hella dumb but also in some odd ways surprisingly progressive for its time, while we still get anime today that don't even treat women as like real people so I dunno my standards are low and it's sad

I guess I never recognized the INTENSE lesbian energy in Rouge and Topaz... guess they toned that down in the US dub...

Sonic X is a bizarre case study in quality vs popularity and how there's not as much correlation as you'd think or hope. The original Japanese version of that show is way, way better than the 4 Kids dub, since 4 Kids did their usual censorship deal and ruined a lot of the good stuff. But Sonic X absolutely bombed in Japan, and only received a third season because it was very popular in America, where the inferior version was all that was available.

Yeah I never watched the Japanese version before but it's become a high hate watch. I think the Sonic X Robotnik may be the best animated characterization, but my fiancee misses the closeted trans chicken robot.
