Okay I rewatched return of the jedi and I just realized how stupid Luke's plan is to get Han out of Jabba's palace:

"Okay so Lando plants himself as one of the guards and I'm going to offer threepio and R2 as gifts to Jabba in exchange for Han. Then if that fails, Leia goes in and offers Chewie for money and she needs to threaten to blow everyone up for more money. Then at night she gets Han out. Then if that fails, I'll come in and he'll probably take us to the Sarlacc pit at which point R2 gives me my lightsaber and I whale on everyone. These are good plans that will in no way fuck up like if Jabba maybe actually agrees to the exchange for the droids or if he kills Leia for threatening him."

I unironically think the Star Wars franchise might be better off if George Lucas had written and directed the sequel trilogy. And this is not intended to be praise towards Lucas.

The crazy thing is that the sequel trilogy, which actually was planned from the beginning as a trilogy, is less coherent and consistent in its narrative than the original trilogy, which started out as a single movie that was expanded later on, and had three different directors instead of just two.
