It's not a cone, it's two circles!

Re: this image makes me irrationally angry
radius and radiate come from the same root, as though the circle is being radiated as some kind of circle energy from the midpoint, which is like, two people in a really cool fist fight

it's a good thing it didn't ask me to find the circumference, or I would have become transcendentally angry

Random math question:
Is it possible to find out the diameter independent of the radius? That is, a way to find the diameter where you can then go "to find the radius I can just divide this number by two" without you already knowing the radius

Re: this image makes me irrationally angry
It's kinda a moot point because knowledge of one is implicit knowledge of the other, as they're basically just the same thing with one being a fixed segment of the whole.

Yes? Like if you have a physical circle and calipers/tape measure/whatever, it's often easier to get the diameter than to find the center and get the radius from it.Gloomy Rube wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 7:14 pmRandom math question:

This is also true. Like, if I label my tape measure with half of the usual labels, I'd arguably be directly measuring the radius in the same fashion.Perpetual Motion wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 7:24 pmIt's kinda a moot point because knowledge of one is implicit knowledge of the other, as they're basically just the same thing with one being a fixed segment of the whole.
