I see Mr. Big as an amorphous cloud of art but that's because you've changed your avatar (and name) so many times that I've had no chance to really pin you down.

Which is weird because I usually stick to the same character for my AVs, although I have a different one right now.
With that said, here's a Queen Felicia drawing I commissioned:

Re: πΊπ½ furry thread 2: reminder the correct pronunciation of gif is "yiff"
media tend to contain way more limited ideas/designs for what women can be like VS what men can be like, and that in turn creates more limiting biases in the creators of the next generationMr. Big wrote: βThu Dec 26, 2019 1:37 pmI guess this is character design in general, although it fits with the current discussion. On Facebook I talked about how most of my characters seems to be girls (which lead to a bunch of guys saying they have mostly female characters, with even some women saying they draw dudes more).
One cartoonist left this comment:
I'm tempted to ask "WHY do all the female characters have to have hour-glass figures?"
being aware of this kinda stuff and trying to think outside that box really helps a lot because yeah, do all female characters need an hour glass figure? or a feminine body type? is it a huge problem if people don't get in a split second which gender the funny cartoon animal is?

You can dress a tiny birb up in a tiny outfit if you put your mind to it. Media just tends to contain way more limited ideas for what tiny birbs can wear VS what anthro characters are like.

I'm now reminded of the pterodactyls in StarFox Adventures who somehow wear long-sleeved shirts in defiance of the very laws of physics. And despite none of the other good-guy dinosaurs having clothes in that game.

I almost never draw male characters, and a lot of my female characters have similar body shapes. That's mainly due to my own limitations as an artist, and an appreciation for muscular ladies who don't have back problems. I should try out more varied body shapes.

I'm pretty limited with body shapes myself, yeah. Felicia is one of the few whose design stands out more from the rest.
Maybe I can work on drawing more varied shapes, especially for the female characters.

the old design is still available buried deep in settings
i've not actually tried browsing through the site with the new design yet. the image i got linked to seems OK on desktop, but apparently it's completely atrocious on some phones

The site was probably always unusable on phones anyway, having been designed before smartphones were even invented, let alone responsive design.
I liked the beta more, though. Had a cleaner look. This one looks like they tried to compromise between that and the original "everything's inside a big box" style and made something that's worse than both of them.

Maybe it's just me, but I honestly prefer navigating pre-smartphone-era sites to the amount of bullshit the sites these days are loaded down with. In my experience, too many of them want to funnel you into an infinite scroll of content, into registering for the site, or into downloading their app (or sometimes all three), coercing you into it by locking a bunch of features behind doing any or all of those when things worked just fine beforehand or even still work just fine on the desktop version of the site. I hope FA doesn't get into that sort of crap.

very often I go to the desktop version of the site even on my phone, if it's still available.

Yeah, and also sites like FA are objectively better for maintaining a gallery of art than, say, Twitter, which was never intended to be used that way in the first place. Twitter is better for getting people to sometimes stumble across a single post you made recently because The Algorithmβ’ likes dropping random posts in total strangers' feeds, but if they want to see the rest of your work, they have to wade through every thought that's crossed your mind in the meantime. Granted, that's probably also why artists like it so much.

tbh I absolutely loathe using it for art stuff. There's too much going on really.Pocket wrote: βWed Jan 01, 2020 5:05 pmYeah, and also sites like FA are objectively better for maintaining a gallery of art than, say, Twitter, which was never intended to be used that way in the first place. It's like, imagine if this forum didn't have separate subforums or even threads, just a single ongoing feed of every post anyone has made, in roughly but not quite exactly reverse chronological order. That's the internet now. Just a big 52 Pickup pile of scattered posts. Good luck finding anything; we'd rather things find you.

personally I think FA has actually needed a good redesign for a long time because I never enjoyed using it to post my art or organize my gallery, the site felt too clunky and old in terms of comfort and organization for me
but no https? what
but no https? what

It uses HTTPS when logging in or accessing the part of the control panel that lets you change sensitive information, and there's an option on said panel to turn it on all the time with a warning that it might make the site slower. I don't know how long it's been there, but I do know I've seen it before. Funny thing is, if I navigate to that page of the control panel and then click any link, it doesn't take me out of HTTPS because I guess they couldn't be bothered to figure out the code to do that, so purely by accident it's more secure than it's supposed to be.

Okay yeah, here's the setting
