She doesn't wear socks in her shoes so she's probably pretty hardcore

The shoes are probably necessary. Walking on all those halftones would be pretty rough.

Re: πΊπ½ furry thread 2: reminder the correct pronunciation of gif is "yiff"
I kinda wish I could get art done of my characters, but theyβre all non-anthropomorphic animals with the only thin differentiating them from a feral animal being whatβs going on in their heads. Kinda hard for that to come across in art.
Itβs like drawing fan art of Watership Down. Unless youβre clearly recreating a scene from the book, itβd be pretty hard to tell it apart from generic nature art.

Ever since I started drawing anthro ponies with those sorts of legs, I've never drawn my ponysona wearing socks. I certainly don't think that I (or me if I were a cartoon horse) am hardcore for it thoughAngry Critter wrote: βFri Dec 01, 2017 2:40 pmShe doesn't wear socks in her shoes so she's probably pretty hardcore

The socks would dangle weirdly when your limbs are detached, like your whole foot is in a sack

Even in this form I still drew him wearing shoes so it's kinda the same:West Filly wrote: βFri Dec 01, 2017 4:51 pmThe socks would dangle weirdly when your limbs are detached, like your whole foot is in a sack

And to be fair, him having no limbs like this is weird in general, even if I've come to think it looks interesting too

You need to stop apologizing for it so often for it being weird, that's honestly way weirder and makes it look way weirder than the art itself
It's legit totally fine, don't worry about it

Yeah, you're right. I guess I do this since I worry that there's someone out there who's offended over my art but isn't saying anything for some reason. It's like how, back on the old forums when we were in the process of repealing the anti-anthro rule, I thought everything was going well until it suddenly turned out that I'd made some people incredibly angry by me posting content I thought was harmless. I'd like to think I've since brushed off that whole fiasco, but maybe there's a part of me that is concerned it might happen again.Perrydotto wrote: βFri Dec 01, 2017 6:54 pmYou need to stop apologizing for it so often for it being weird, that's honestly way weirder and makes it look way weirder than the art itself

when it comes to anthro or pony art, there will always be something benign that "offends" someone.Fizzbuzz wrote: βFri Dec 01, 2017 11:10 pmYeah, you're right. Offended isn't even the right word really, since it's literally just an art style choice.
It is harmless, and if people are bothered by it, then they'll have to learn to cope.
Do your own thing, and don't be ashamed of something like liking an "odd" or irregular art style.

At least two of my characters are palette swapped PokΓ©mon visually, and I've gotten B&W commissions of them before.Perpetual Lurker wrote: βFri Dec 01, 2017 4:24 pmI kinda wish I could get art done of my characters, but theyβre all non-anthropomorphic animals with the only thin differentiating them from a feral animal being whatβs going on in their heads. On shoes and socks, of the 60 images I'd got of Dex (including both gifts and comms), 3 have some kind of footwear; some strappy sandals, some improvised skates, and some sneakers.

No socks in any of them; the claws would just rip most socks anyway.

Ankina, my minotaur character, has hooves, which means no shoes or socks.
Here's an art I don't remember if I ever posted of her!

Re: πΊπ½ furry thread 2: reminder the correct pronunciation of gif is "yiff"
I actually used to draw anthro ponies with legs more like that, but I switched to giving them plantigrade legs because I thought it felt a bit more cartoony (i.e. less like a real animal) that way, and also since things like shoes and socks give a chance to say more about the character or at least use their color scheme more.
Even then I still imagine they'd have some sort of rounded hoof-feet instead of actually having discrete toes or anything.

I just got done eating at a Chinese restaurant and it made me wonder: how many folks have fursonas that match their Chinese zodiac sign?
For the record, I was born in 1982 so am officially a zodiac doggo

There is no year of the swan. The closest thing to a swan themed zodiac would be the cygnus constellation. Much like actual swans, the constellation appears in spring and leaves the sky at the start of Autumn.

Year of the Monkey here, AKA the most boring of fursonas. Why anthropomorphize something that already has hands?

I do have a character based on the old true zodiac meme, of regular zodiac (Gemini) + Chinese zodiac ([metal] goat)
No art of them yet though

The lesser primates at least still have tails and rarely walk upright, unlike the nonhuman great apesPerpetual Lurker wrote: βSat Dec 09, 2017 1:37 amYear of the Monkey here, AKA the most boring of fursonas. Why anthropomorphize something that already has hands?

I think the "Ren and Stimpy" comic books are more furry than the show itself

For me it was either a goat or a ram, depending on what translation you look at.
