How do you type with boxing gloves on? [Homestar thread]
I've been thinking of Homestar Runner lately, having watched it a ton during high school growing up. A lot of the cartoons still hold up and the humor is strong.
They have a YouTube channel now for Homestar, since Flash is dead etc, and even the shorts that's not there, I think some other people uploaded themselves with varying quality. Post your favorites etc. etc.

This is still one of my favorite Strong Bad Emails, mainly because I made a lot of the same observations Strong Bad did with independent vs. "indie" films.

I always took pride that I knew how to pronounce "fhqwhgads" back then
The follow-up short to the song is also amazing

"Those Darn Cousins" got ponified by Cuteosphere once, but it never ended up on the booru and now I can't find it.
I do like how YouTube's related-videos thumbnails helpfully reminded me that the sketchy one in that last scene was reused much later for an April Fools episode:

That was my first exposure to They Might Be Giants! I later downloaded that song and listen to it once in a while.
(the audio commentary for this featuring Strong Sad, The Cheat, Strong Bad, and Homestar is HILARIOUS)

Re: How do you type with boxing gloves on? [Homestar thread]
(during the part where the film burns and Strong Sad turns into a version animated by The Cheat)
STRONG SAD: Ohhh! This next part is all about Rondell's transformation into a new man.
HOMESTAR RUNNER: I thought you said that was just an accident that happened because you loaded the film wrong.
STRONG SAD: Uhh, why don't you shut up, Homestar?
HOMESTAR RUNNER: I dunno... 'cause I guess I got a lot of stuff to say.

Haha that's awesome.
Similarly, this one by Da Vinci's Notebook. I love when they go nuts on some new animation style that turns into its own alternate universe full of injokes and riffs on their own world.

Man, those alternate universes/different animation styles was always one of my favorite aspects about Homestar Runner. And agreed, "The Ballad of The Sneak" is a good one.
Something I realized is that The Brothers Chaps collaborated with They Might Be Giants a lot. They composed the music for the song in this sbemail (fittingly, this is the 99th email). Brothers Chaps still wrote the lyrics, however:

Pfft, this is great. I think whoever is controlling the puppet Homestar is having such a blast that he didn't care that you could see the other side of the puppet WITHOUT the eyes (the eyes were detachable so they could film in whichever side it was needed), or that you can see the hand.

Nothing much to say about this other than that I love the music they play in the titles.
Also "That's why come Shakespeare was so awesome" cracked me up for some reason.

I wish that were a real thing. I would watch it. Never got what was supposed to be so brilliant about Shakespeare.
Anyway, YouTube just dumped this one into my recommendations, which is as good a reason to rewatch as any, I guess.

Re: How do you type with boxing gloves on? [Homestar thread]
This one holds a special place because it's the first email I've watched. I remember going back and watching the previous 100+ episodes after that.
Speaking of which, the 100th Strong Bad Email was very much anticipated by fans, many of whom grew impatient. So much so that people started typing in sbemail100.html in the address bar, only to get a 404 error. The Brothers Chaps eventually made this, uploaded to the sbemail100.html address but not linking it anywhere, making the entire page an Easter Egg for fans to find:
The actual 100th Strong Bad Email was later uploaded to sbemailahundred.html.

my favorite senor cardgage quote is actually related to us by strongbad and is from a cartoon that doesn't seem to be on the homestar main account yet.
so I have to link to this very poor quality video, heck

Man, I hope they upload that eventually, maybe before Christmas. That's a good one.
Here's a sbemail I remember laughing my butt off:
(In Strong Bad's defense, it's pretty weird writing fan fics fiction about your brother)
One interesting fact, in the original flash site, during the "Non-Sequitur Challenge" scene, they would randomly show Senor Cardgage or Homsar; the YouTube version above just has the Homsar scene.

I wonder what became of Abdi Larue, the guy whose email was the first to be answered by Strong Bad. His name popped up a few times since in the Homestar universe.

I wonder what became of any of them. Occasionally the Wiki will mention that one was sent in by one of their own members, and a regular in the Define Cynical chat room once claimed responsibility for "part time", but neither of those communities has been active in a Jhonka's age.

Speaking of Jhonkas, I have to say I've always thought the pinnacle of Homestarrunner was the Peasant's Quest Movie Trailer:
It's just sublime how it forms the culmination of the Trogdor subplot-thing, after I'd thought them making an actual Peasant's Quest game couldn't be topped. Now we get a live-action rendition of the thing, complete with all the memorable scenes and injokes, many of which are made so much more surreal and awesome by implying they developed it into a big-budget movie with all the extra plot development like so many movies they make these days from tiny sparse source material:
- "Throw... baby!" Like the text commands are some kind of in-universe incantation
- "Easy now, Gary; I'm just going to WEAR MASK." Which I love because the whole point of the mask is to scare the horse; wtf is he all "easy now Gary"
- "Haldo!"
- Rather Dashing having an introspective soliloquy about how Trogdor just destroys everything and doesn't even care
- The t-shirt and the meatball sub
- "...And you're certainly not on FIRE like a peasant!" (next scene he's climbing the cliff and on fire)
- The cinematic reveal of the trophy Kerrek belt
I don't know, it's just a slice of perfection somehow

Re: How do you type with boxing gloves on? [Homestar thread]
Oh god, I loved that trailer when it came out
And man, I remember having fun with Peasant's Quest. I must've played that a lot.
I remember that, a week after the game came out, they had Strong Bad play it before checking his emails. One of the commands he typed was "Give Kerrek a Cold One", which instantly killed him because "Kerrek is a teetotaler". That command wasn't in the game originally, but after the email came out they added it (and predictably, it's instakill).

Okay, this is the email I was talking about.
(Can I just add that Strong Bad being a dick about people's grammar is always hilarious for me, as well as his dedication to reading his emails exactly the way it's written, even obvious spelling errors? "Unnecessary comma" )

I somehow never noticed that he has a negative score at the beginning of the video. Also, without the crunchy Flash audio compression, the kids' voices have obvious pitch-shifting artifacts, but they don't sound South Park-y, so I'm guessing Missy, Jackie, and/or Karen did the voices.
