Canary in the Gem Mine: Issues with Restored Threads

Post by CosmogenicLily (?) » Sun Nov 26, 2017 12:27 pm

Please use this thread to post about any issues you might encounter reading through the Canterlot Gem Mine, including:
  • Posts are not correctly associated with you (e.g. if you recently reregistered).
  • Posts are incorrectly associated with you (or you would prefer your old posts to not be associated SOLELY because of a name change on reregistration).
  • Some posts or threads display incorrectly.
Attempts have been made to re-associate all of your posts to you and fix [ quote ] references where possible. If I have overlooked anything, please let me know.

I noticed a couple of minor issues with links in certain posts in Rocks as I've been working on testing the import of other Gem Mine threads from 2014. These issues have been fixed.

Just added: Gem Mine threads from 2014. Alas, the Round Stable Archive Team was unable to recover "A day in pppp without a probation is a sad day", but all other threads were recoverable (at least in part).

Is there any hope of getting my Wheel of Time thread back, even in part?

We archived as much as possible of that one. Several pages were not recoverable, but the majority was. Until Cosmo brings the archives online, however, you can't access them.

I was looking through it recently and it doesn't seem like I'm associated with my old posts.

I’m not, either, though that may be a blessing in disguise :v:

Have been thinking for a few months that I need to restart the archive restoration project. I have all of it locally, but I got distracted and never finished loading 2015-2017, even though they still exist on my laptop.

I think there was one thread we couldn't recover any pages from (KidC Memorial Burn Ward I think???)

Associating users that rejoined after December with their posts is another task I should probably do, but did not.

Maybe one of the weekends here I'll tackle those problems. It takes a little bit to do testing to load a year (because I have to make sure that all the HTML converts to BBCode correctly), so it'll probably be a year per weekend if that.

Just fixed a bunch of old anonymous posts to point to the correct users again. Frosthawk and Madeline, your history is restored. I guess I just overlooked Frosthawk the last time I ran it.

Thanks, and to be fair I have like 12 posts.
