Have you seen The A-Team, specifically the episode where they go to "Valencia" which is obviously Mexico? Hilarious stuff.
MacGyver wasn't this sort of secret agent, like, he almost never (to my memory) had good gadgets. Essentially the opposite of James Bond.

But he could make a crossbow out of an apple and a handful of sand.

No, but I bet he'd shoot the gas tank of a parked truck to make an explosion and distract all the guards while he breaks him and the nuclear scientist out of the guerilla prison camp in a glider made from a bicycle and the contents of a laundry hamper.

It's on Netflix, it's your fault.
Also, it had a pretty rad theme song.
edit: also let's move the MacGyver chat to a better venue
Just watch the one where he escapes from east Germany.

The only thing I know about MacGyver is that Patty and Selma are big fans of the show, and that Bart used it to figure out that Sideshow Bob was trying to kill Selma.
Also, the guy who directed season 1 episode "Target MacGyver" also made this cartoon (no, really. He did)

I feel like I remember him being a bystander as several man fell prey to marauding army ants. That or I had a fever dream involving South American ants and McGuyver several years ago.

That was an episode, but he didn't really stand by. He did all he could, including building a flame thrower out of scrap.

This made me sad last year when I jokingly hinted at a non-existent username costume as my Secret Celestia designee, caught way too many users off guard who thought it was a legitimate mistake, and when I participated in the Renaming requesting that name as penance I wasn't given it. I don't even remember what the name was, but I remember thinking it was clever.
EDIT: "The Pangaea Dialogues." Meh.
