I was hoping we would get some people back, but I doubt it.

Re: Lowtax beats his SOs, eats overpriced cookies, and is generally problematic
I remember a whole lot of people coming back when SA was down for most of May 2014, but that was six years ago when we were likely still fresher in a lot of ponygoon minds. It was also before the horsepocalypse, so a lot of them would need to reregister and get approved by Kefka or Void Chicken before actually posting here again.

Most people have flocked to Bread & Roses, myself included.Gloomy Rube wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 3:35 amAre we expecting any goon refugees? Since lots of off-sites are getting them, has anyone like, tried to grab anyone fleeing the sinking ship?
But I'm still gonna post here too of course.

don't forget the creation of Helldump in 2007, which made the whole site a depressing exercise in quintuple-layered sarcasm in case someone somewhere took offense to something you wrote seven years priorRIP Syndrome wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 5:09 pmLowtax literally only managed to cause problems during 2014-2020 or thereabouts.

helldump was the most bizarre thing, it was a forum made just for doxxing. Imagine if we had one, heckdump, and it was just us going through old posts and going like "I found proof that daikatuna likes video games"

it's amusing how SA prospered despite being run by an incompetent dipshit

Re: Lowtax beats his SOs, eats overpriced cookies, and is generally problematic
Helldump was mildly okay (partially in a "the ends justify the means" way, partially because the circlejerk hadn't started and people hadn't truly started going crazy) for the first few months when the people getting posted about were all pedophiles getting run off the site, but after that it went on for far longer than it should have.
If we truly had a Helldump of our own then we'd have to vote for one of our own to be banned every week. Anyone who'd posted a thread or made at least 10 replies in Helldump was thus eligible for Garbage Day, and even if you reregistered after being banned for it, your account would be permanently locked out of Helldump. This was possibly supposed to keep bad posters out, but it effectively meant that if you were being targeted, you had very little opportunity to come defend yourself before you'd be up for getting voted out.Gloomy Rube wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 2:30 pmImagine if we had one, heckdump, and it was just us going through old posts and going like "I found proof that daikatuna likes video games"

Re: Lowtax beats his SOs, eats overpriced cookies, and is generally problematic
Also, there was another announcement from the admins. Logan (Lowtax's ex in the OP) is confirmed to be safe now. Additionally:
If you have a SA forums account, go check and make sure your email address is up to date. This announcement is implying that the admins being able to contact all of us might soon be quite important! There have been a lot of questions about offsites and donations for offsites and the future of the forums and what's going to happen to all my shitposts about Guy Fieri and that sort of thing. The short answer is we do not have anywhere for that sort of thing to go at the moment. Yeah the secrecy sucks and is frustrating to everyone, but there should be a solid announcement within a day or so.
There's been a massive uptick in lurkers and people who haven't logged in peeking their heads in, which is great and sad. With that in mind we'd like to ask everyone to check that the email address linked to your account is one that you have access to. If it needs to be updated please do that.

Unfortunately having owners/technical staff who haven't been heard from in ages is another thing we and SA have in common.
Every jumbled pile of person has a thinking part that wonders what the part that isn't thinking isn't thinking of...

Re: Lowtax beats his SOs, eats overpriced cookies, and is generally problematic
Source removed because Goatse.I, Jeffrey of YOSPOS, have reached an agreement with Lowtax to transfer all Something Awful LLC assets to me. No contract has been signed yet but these things take time and I want to make this announcement now. Obviously, if this falls through, you all will hear it straight from me.
Lowtax asked me to make clear that this is not an admission of any guilt. He maintains his innocence. However, he recognizes that the site cannot continue with him in charge, and the community and site are more important than his name.
This has been one of the most stressful and sad ~72 hours of my forums life and I'm sure everyone has a million questions and I'll plan on discussing this with the community tonight, after taking a few hours to catch my breath. Please don't burn down the whole site yet - we can get through this as a community.
This site has been extremely important to me since I joined 15 years ago. I love this place more than anything and, and top of everything else, the idea of it just going away was heartbreaking to me. My promise to all of you is that I love something awful as something awful, and my intention is to preserve all of the things that make this site incredible. This will be something awful, at its best, not any sort of weird vision of what something awful should be.
V Yeah, it wasn't showing up on my end at first, and now that it has, I've killed the link. Sorry about that.

Warning there's a graphic image in that link, but yeah, look like Lowtax is officially severing ties with SomethingAwful.

For those wondering, Jeffrey of YOSPOS is the current coder for the forums, as well as the most sane one of all the post-Radium coders over the past decade. Unless he somehow turns out to be verifiably worse than Aatrek or something and no one found that out until now, I think SA will be in good hands going forward.

Maybe under the new regime, the "no ponies" rules in the TV IV will be removed and we can finally wrap this whole thing up here.

Brb compressing all of our forums' threads into a single thread.
Very math.

How many people here joined Bread & Roses? Do they have a comic strip thread? Might look into it

I signed up just in case but dunno if I'll actually use it or post there. Figured I might as well since they're waiving the $10 signup for everyone with so many people migrating over at this time.
There is an art/media forum with a newspaper comics thread (that is currently only 6 posts long)

I hear they're waiving the $10 fee to members of SA migrating, just have to figure out how to do that.

You just sign up without the invite code then just hang out a couple hours and then they approve you.

are we just going to kind of... ignore the allegations of sexual misconduct on part of the BnR admin and another staff member? like, that for me was quite the big red flag, not that I would've joined a site run by C-SPAM runoff anyway.

Re: [UPDATE] Lowtax has been ousted from Something Awful
one staff member on BnR was already tossed from the site because of these allegations. while the other is apparently the owner/head admin and made a weird "believe all women, including me" post which didn't really answer anything.
