This week's episode was fantastic.
I'm beginning to really really like the show to the point I feel that I cannot wait.
The preview for the next episode has shown that EXOCOMPs are there.

They come from a TNG episode that I also like very much.

yeah that was a genuinely good piece of television

guessing it's a 12 episode run then since they're getting to the meat of things already?

It took me way too long to realize T'Ana said "crazy fuckers" at the end, and not the other F word (they beep it out). :backaway:

doubt it will survive past this season. a shame, i was starting to warm up to mariner, even though her starting point was clearly 'what if rick was a hot girl?'

The show was picked up for two seasons originally. So I would hope we're getting more. This has been a great show.

i did the same double take, i dunno if its weird spacing on the beep or a weak delivery on k sound from the actress.

:unenthused: Of all the things they had to copy from the old shows, they had to copy S1 TNG.

killing the security officer. I liked Shaxs.

 Also, shut up Will. No one likes reminiscing about that Enterprise except for you.

:allears: Still a really fun finale.

The Bajoran with the heart of a Klingon, and a heart spread all over the solar system.
Call it a crackpot theory but I trust the writers to pull this off:

The Exocomp rebuilds a ship from all those parts and creates a little "Borg" army with its medical knowlege and the cybernetic implant.
And thus rebuilding Shanxs.

This is the type of crazy I expect from them by now.

Well, that was a ride.

By the way, my normal headphones don't have much bass, so it wasn't until I switched to a different pair while watching the last few episodes that the slug thing in the opening goes wub wub wub :wubs:

Oh, and sticking a commercial for Discovery in there was... uh... a good way to make me feel better about this series. :dreamworks:

I would love to see Peanut Hamper return, but unless they change the tone of the show, I really don't foresee a big ongoing storyline. They seem to like their episode of the week thing, with only minor continuity.

And I am 100% fine with that.

The first episode of the season started somewhat rough, somewhere resembling the first season's first episodes.
Maybe it is the big time gap between episodes and I have to readjust my expectations.
Also it was grating that I had the impression that there should have been at least one episode before that to explore what Mariner's missions were. The minimum I wanted was a montage.
Anyway, still better than whole of Discovery and Picard.

didn't they get to say fuck on discovery and picard

there is literally one circumstance I can remember in star track where being able to say fuck would be better than not being able to say fuck

tng 4-16, galaxy's child, leah brahms says to geordi "so you're the one who's fouled up my engine designs"

if she said fucked up my engine designs, that'd be fine

that's the one time I know

maybe there's once when sisko is pissed in ds9

I hate the Pakleds. They are too stupid to exist, as seen in the episode itself. They go outside the airlock without realizing it's not a bathroom.
Neurodivergence is one thing but this is too severe to take them seriously as a threat as a whole as they are one Pakled away blowing up their own planet mishandling a warp core.
The other part of this episode's plot was good. The random dangerous shit the deck officers bring back from their adventures was a highlight.
Also Boimler standing up for his friends against the speech-spewing and superficial do-nothings was the cherry on top.

BTW: I dislike how the name Boimler is written. Should it rather be "Bäumler"? (the stem of the name is the word "Baum" (English: tree)).

But that would be pronounced "bowm-ler."

The "äu" in "Bäume" (trees) is a diphthong that sounds like "oy" in "oyster" (or like "oi").

So far I enjoyed this episode the most. It was also the least profane and radical. If the series keeps this level I'm absolutely happy.
Seeing the other lower decks on other ships was brilliant. I hope we see the Vulkan "Mariner" in future episodes.
