Re: PONY LIFE 19-20: Don't Look a .GIF Horse in the Mouth/The Root of It/The Mysterious Voice/The 5 Habits of Highly Eff
I wonder what Don't Look a .GIF Horse in the Mouth did to get its title. Seems like that was a pun the Pony Life crew thought up for last week's episodes related to the Internet, couldn't quite work it into a story based on that, and used it for a story about the odd social dynamics of gift-giving instead. It made for a good episode, at least.
Tabitha St. Germain has rapidly improved at doing Spike's voice. Considering how much heart she puts into doing Rarity, it seems just a bit of a shame that she's playing Spike mostly as he was in FiM, as I have no doubt she'd come up with a spirited new take on the role if given the opportunity. Still, depending on just how long Pony Life goes (I've heard we're set for six more episodes at least), maybe she will get time for that.

From this batch of episodes The 5 Habits of Highly Effective Ponies is clearly the best one.

I haven't seen only a few episodes of "Friends" but I think that's supposed to be Rachel's hair

Alas, the first story doesn't involve a GIF. It was pretty alright, and featured a good Rarity moment.
The second story featured an odd ennui among the Mane Six that we've seen fairly often in the show. Given this is in theory aimed at a younger audience than FiM, the world-weariness of the leads is pretty unexpected. I thought this was a good story, and featured some unexpected Friends (or rather, Chums) references. I suppose a lot of kids would have watched it when it went up on streaming services.
With the third story, I find I'm getting much more used to Tabitha St. Germain's Spike voice now. It was alright.
Last story featured cute moments of Fluttershy imitating the other characters. The lesson about patience was a bit odd when Fluttershy had already waited two weeks, but whatever. Also, great Rarity moment. With this first clip, I'll note that Andrea Libman has gotten good at making sure Fluttershy's voice doesn't bleed into Pinkie's.
Overall, fun set of stories.
