Play with Ponies: The Pony Toy Thread (REVENGANCE EDITION)
POST PONY TOYS AND SILLY THINGS DONE WITH THEM. LIKE THIS:
I think it's best we get this puppy back up and running.
As it so happens, I got some new friends today from a good friend on another forum.
GOH BBBFF and Movie Sparkly Twilight (from the Festival Foes TRU 3-pack with Bowtie Spike and Tempest Shadow) join GOH Twilight.
Diamond Mint, my first and currently only "snowglobe" pony, joins the herd as well - the pony to her right; Dewdrop Dazzle, I happened to have bought from the same seller a year ago.
And I also got some Coach bags, for Christmas presents for my mom and sis. Provided I can convince Tempest to give them up, that is...

Has anyone else seen the new Equestria Girls dolls?
I found this one today at TRU. It's about $8 at TRU...over $21 on Amazon. I'm kinda on the fence about the new proportions. The head is kind of bothersome. But the rest is, I don't know. It's...different.

I like the art style on the packaging. Nice to see them take a break from the same old stock vectors they’ve been using for the last seven years.

Okay I'm like hella fuckin' bothered over here, this actually looks pretty good?? Like idk man the art is good and the font & design has something resembling unique brand identity for the Dougworld dolls. Plus honestly I don't recall how the dolls used to look (beyond ugly), but I think that one's like, p okay, considering
Hasbro has done it, they've not completely fucked something up. Really tho they should finally get rid of the MLP branding, I don't think it helps them at all, but apart from that it's literally fine. And that's scary

The dolls are definitely better than the first generation of them, they look more fun and stylized, and more close to the original characters.

So, I did some Christmas shopping today, and came home with all the last presents I needed...plus one extra.
What could it be?
Kind of obvious, but hey, girl needs her battle armor
It was tricky getting the dark navy blue to show on her black..."undershirt" let's say.
Also, for $16 it was really expensive just for a battle saddle and some booties, but given I didn't really pay full price for my Tempest (2 for one deal through a friend, though the shipping from Canada was highway robbery), I still came out under $50 for the full package. And she does look damn good, too, in full regalia at last!

What I still find amusing is how the EqG toys lean so heavily on the FiM ponies for packaging art.Perpetual Lurker wrote: ↑Mon Dec 11, 2017 7:22 pmI like the art style on the packaging. Nice to see them take a break from the same old stock vectors they’ve been using for the last seven years.

Re: Play with Ponies: The Pony Toy Thread (REVENGANCE EDITION)
I bought two new toys. A movie themed toy with Shining Armor on a royal chariot and a box set of ten miniatures including the mane six, Cadance, Shining Armor, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. So I got two shining Armors in one day.
I seen this play set I wanted to get but ran out of money. It was Rarity's Boutique with this little conveyor belt you could slide ponies on and an outfit with just snap on them. It came with three outfits and the outfits had like a wooden laundry pin mechanic whereas the pony would come down the belt the outfit would open up then snap shut around them. I wanted it for the sheer cleverness of the design.
Now I have missed merchandise regret.

I bought a bunch of new stuff. A Rainbow Dash snow cap, a Nightmare Night playset that comes with Applejack in a scarecrow outfit and a spooky stand and a Luna beanie plushie.
My mom bought be three movie toys but accidentally smashed one in the door.

Had to return something to Target and look who I found:
It was completely unintentional that I put Songbird Serenade, a character modeled directly on their VA (Sia), right next to the one other toy of a character modeled directly on their VA (Weird Al), but really that seemed to be the most appropriate place for her.

So a friend sent me a link to an article that says Target will be getting G1 re-releases.

I haven't seen them personally yet, but you can bet I'm going to get as many of these as I can.

My friend sent a package from New York. It has three different McDonald series in it, all of them complete. Two of them are figurines and the other one is a mask set. Twilight's mask even comes with a tiara. This is so awesome! We never even got these over here.

Re: Play with Ponies: The Pony Toy Thread (REVENGANCE EDITION)
Went on a shopping trip in the main commercial area today, as I needed to get out of the house and wanted to see what was out there. First stop was at Five Below, because I've never been in one before - and I found a DJ P0N3/Vinyl Scratch EqG doll. For $5 how could I say no?
And then later, I hit up Toys R Us hoping to find more Wave 3 EqG dolls, in which I didn't find any. However, they had the Movie Theatre set and the 5-pack with the exclusive Starlight Glimmer and Daring Do figures. It took some mulling over but I decided to get the Movie Set because A) it was $10 cheaper and while it was purely to get my hands on Juniper Montage (meaning it cost more for one figure than the $40 5-pack would have broken down to), B) Juniper Montage has more screen time as an antagonist as opposed to EqG Starlight Glimmer and Daring Do (a.k.a. Chestnut Magnifico) being in the shorts whatsoever.
Additionally, the box was damaged when I found it, which was encouraging as that way, I didn't need to worry about keeping it MISB (like I plan on the Sunset Sushi truck I'll probably order Monday from Walmart) and I could remove Juniper.
It's an expensive purchase since I won't be really using the actual majority of the set, which is a bit of a shame - it's an incredibly well designed set where the movie "screen" is actually an open dock you can put a tablet into to actually show movies in to the toys. The Popcorn machine is also pretty neat and the accessories are cool too (who doesn't like 3D glasses?). In the future when I can devote more space for the EqG dolls, I'll probably utilize the rest of the set in a wider display. Until then, it can wait in the closet.
Here are the five EqG dolls I have lined up - it was especially nice that I didn't even need to move my Fan Favorites 1 Vinyl pony to line her up with her 'human' counterpart.
And the full EqG set because Flash can't be next to them - he'd block the Transformers behind the package as I don't think I'd ever get him to stand up outside of it.

Re: Play with Ponies: The Pony Toy Thread (REVENGANCE EDITION)
Got a special package today - couldn't find this damn thing in stores and I have a little extra holiday money to burn, so in order to get the last Mini I ABSOLUTELY needed, I took the plunge.
Sunset can fit inside the middle of the truck with the stand attached, which is good because like pretty much all the Minis, she has severe balance issues.
While I'm not ever going to be "playing" with this set, I am a bit disapointed this rear "table" doesn't fold up. Would have been a nice touch.
Here is Sushi Sunset compared to the original. The difference is pretty noticeable in quality in favor of the newer one, as her hair looks smoother and the streaks in her hair are both brighter (yellow vice the yellow-orange of the original) and "fuller" in application. However, even with the stand she's having a hard time standing up properly, though maybe I just need to break her in as opposed to the original which has no stand but I've had for almost a year now.
My six minis, in order of acquisition.
My six girls on display (The Sushi Truck is far in the back right)

I assume you have Funkos without the annoying QA issues? Those are usually what keeps me from buying any Funkos online. They tend to be really sloppy with the paint if you're unlucky.

Re: Play with Ponies: The Pony Toy Thread (REVENGANCE EDITION)
I managed to find a Brushie Octavia Melody - without the rather freakish looking EqG Octavia doll - for a decent enough price ($20 but free shipping from China so it works out) on eBay. Lacking her has been one of the few major gaps in the collection so I'm finally happy to be putting her in the lineup. Appropriately enough, she goes right next to my Vinyl Scratch/DJ P0N-3.
The only pony with any major role and appearance in the show that I lack is Lemony Gem, who given she was only available in Fan Favorites 1 (which I didn't get - I have the DJ P0N-3 and Trixie from the set but those were bought seperately) is even harder to track down for a reasonable price. Minty would be nice as well but, well...Minty.

I wonder if this is something that'll happen in S8.Sparks fly when the mischievous Starlight Glimmer and Trixie Lulamoon get together! Inspired by entertainment, this My Little Pony Fan Series item depicts the Starlight Glimmer and Trixie Lulamoon characters caught up in a magical misadventure. It's full of glittery details to re-imagine the iconic moment between these 2 friends! The sculpture is a great addition to a fan's collection and can stand flat on a surface for display. 8-inches.

Re: Play with Ponies: The Pony Toy Thread (REVENGANCE EDITION)
While grocery shopping, the store was having a 50% off sale on already low priced EqG minis...so my will is weak.
Amazingly, they had a perfect condition card of Sunset - this being the second one I've picked up from that very store (the first one was sent to a friend). She'll be kept MOSC since I already have a Sunset of this design open. Fortunately, the Sushi truck makes an excellent stand for this purpose.
And I picked up the original Minis Twilight.
All my Wave 1 girls. Weirdly, despite having the widest feet, Twilight has the worst balance because her right foot doesn't sit flush simultaneously with her left.
The Twilight Collection
Twilight's placement in the collection - I had to rearrange Movie Twilight, GoH Twilight, and GoH Shining to get movie Twily in front of her human self.
All my girls (and boy) - running out of room for them come to think of it, don't know how I'd ever fit in that movie multipack...

There's really no excuse NOT to get her unless you're keeping strictly on a budget. She and her food truck only cost $20 MSRP, and I merely paid $30 because I couldn't take advantage of Walmart's online "buy $35 worth of stuff and shipping is free" promotion.RIP Syndrome wrote: ↑Fri Feb 09, 2018 1:23 pmI would just like to point out that Sunset Sushi is cute as fuck
Still worth every penny because the Sushi truck is absolutely fantastic. A well built mini-playset with tons of fun detail (the use of matte and shiny plastic mixed casting to get a two-tone representation of Sunset's CM on the roof is especially well done).
He's actually advertised on the back of the EqG Homecoming Dance playset. I've only found him twice - one at a Walgreens (which is the one I own) and three at a Five Below, where I got my Vinyl Scratch. Also lmao they made a Brad toy
