Andrea Libman's Ride to Conquer Cancer: Raffle winners!
Hi guys,
I posted an article on the front page about Andrea's Ride for Cancer.
http://www.roundstable.com/2013/06/05/a ... er-cancer/
Please look at it and see what you can do to contribute. Andrea approached the pony news sites (including us) to help raise funds for her team in the BC Ride to Conquer Cancer, and we're all working together with her to make it happen. If you donate $50, Andrea will mail you an autographed item, and there are some charity auction items as well like a Rainbow Dash bike jersey and some DeathPwny prints.
However, even if you can't donate $50, anyone on the forums who donates (and can show me proof of doing so) will be rewarded, even for the smallest amounts. If you donate and do not have a gang tag (the items underneath people's avatars), I will give you one of your choice.
In addition to tags, anyone who donates will be entered into drawings to win stuff provided by our fabulous forum members! Do you want Cool Stuff? Of course you do! You do not have to donate the $50 to be entered into our drawings. ANY donation amount qualifies you!
If you can give, please make sure you can do so and help out those who are fighting against cancer.

Kefka has agreed to do a random name drawing from everyone on the forums who donates. I'm putting on the prize table a set of the 4 walmart posters from last year.

I don't have a full set of the posters, but I have two extras of the Season 2 cast ensemble and three extras of the Pony Wedding posters, if that helps any.

Because people are so generously offering things. what will happen is that everyone who doesn't have a gangtag will get one, and anyone who makes a donation will be entered in to a drawing for one of the prizes.

So... people who check this thread can get a tag?
And from this day fourth we can assume anyone without a gang tag doesn't care about curing cancer.

Re: Andrea Libman's Ride to Conquer Cancer
Back when I was unemployed and had all kinds of time, I really wanted to get a team together to train for months to do this ride, but my friends were all busy and/or lazy.
Second best thing: Finding out the route and setting up a table and area with shade, fresh drinks, and whatever else people who have just ridden all the way from Vancouver will want while going along their way.
Also, donating and finally getting a gangtag!
Edit: Pff, they're having lunch at a stadium that is hella close, and there's no way they wouldn't have adequate water with them. I would be redundant.

Re: Andrea Libman's Ride to Conquer Cancer
I'm on board with donating things for our prize drawing!
I'll throw in:
- A season 1 blu ray set from EDEL Records (the one with 5.1 German and 2.0 English sound)
- An OVP German Burger King Twilight figurine
- An OVP German Burger King Pinkie figurine (finding these was surprisingly hard)
I also donated as much as I could scrape together. My father died to prostate cancer when I was 12. He was a few weeks away from turning 50. Generosity was something he always held up high, and the least I can do is following the same.

I'm part of team "lost a parent to cancer" so I guess I'll have to throw some money at this when I get home later. (Father and esophagus cancer, if anyone was curious) It was over a decade ago, so I'm ok, although losing a parent young really sucks. It's heartwarming to see the enthusiasm for this, though.

I had a grandfather who lost his life to cancer when I was really young. I was young enough that I didn't even know it was cancer. It wasn't until I overheard it in a conversation my Mom and her sisters/cousins had a while back about him.

I doubt many of those are actual downvotes, Reddit tends to "fuzz" the vote count for popular items. Dexanth ninja'd me to it
Also, I think I might have an extra McDonald's toy or two to donate in addition to the posters, if I haven't already used them for other projects. I'll have to check when I get home. If not then I know I have some duplicate blindbag ponies of the mane six.

June 14th is the deadline? I hope I get some money until that, but I'm broke at the moment and my parents have other worries.

OK, I'm in.
Also, I accidentally ordered two copies of IDW Comic #7. I can part with the spare for anybody that doesn't have it yet, if you want to throw that into the prize pool. Whatever I can do.

Re: Andrea Libman's Ride to Conquer Cancer: Please Help!
Every year I let myself spend my first paycheck on whatever I want. Almost always, I never find anything to buy so I get nothing and it just gets dumped into a bottomless pit of loans. I haven't been paid yet, but I can upfront the money, so I donated.
I don't want anything in return, and the tag things don't really interest me.

Dear princess Kefka, please give Twilight a Twilight tag anyway. Even though he is disinterested, I think he deserves one. (As long as he's not actively opposed to it that is)

You guys are great. I'm trying to save up for a trip later this month, but I still donated a small amount to whoever had the lowest total when I clicked on them last night. I've already got a gangtag, and I want other people to win neat things, so you don't have to put my name in the drawing.
My wife lost a close friend to cancer last year, it really sucks and things like this are going to eventually help us beat it.

I'll be donating $50 once I've finished this last assignment I'm currently working on. It's such a noble cause, plus, being from the other side of the world, it's probably the only chance to get something autographed.
I've been saving up loads of money this semester (assignments causing you to become a social recluse do that to you), so I want to help. Will post again once I've made the donation.

I'm planning on a bunch of lower than usual paychecks in the next month, but once I get back the $50 I loaned to some friends, I'll donate it. My maternal grandfather died of lung cancer, and my paternal grandmother of brain cancer, so this is definitely something I can justify spending that much on.

Re: Andrea Libman's Ride to Conquer Cancer: Please Help!
I haven't lost anyone to cancer, but last week, last week I came very close to losing my grandmother, who has been a fixture throughout my life and they way she collapsed from an enormously active old lady who loved being out and about with her friends to completely bedridden and unable to even move in bed under her own strength in a short span of time... it was my first glimpse at the true fear and pain of losing a loved one.
I won't pretend it was the same thing, and I count my lucky stars that it was only an infection and that she's recovering well now, but to those who have lost the ones dearest to them, and the ones who still might, I owe it to myself and others to contribute to something that might one day save a lot of lives.
So. My $50 is in. Let's keep this up.
