I hope this metaphor works. It's to day that burden is really, really undue and unnecessary.
I appreciate your concern.

Oh man. I'm so sorry, Metal. Testtube has already taken its toll on the users after its first instance!

I sincerely hope there's a new MLP episode airing on 4/1/2014.

This day is a fun day to let loose, and seriously, I'd like to request that you keep :skeletor: and :snoop: around as actual emotes. Or at least one of them.

This is a thing of beauty. If only it was gangtag size.

Will we get a gangtag for this day? We should.

I was mainly talking about folks like James Arnold Taylor (Johnny) and Ian Corlett (Johnny's dad), as well as the females (especially since they're not making the female actors YELL EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEIR LINES).

I honestly don't think I've encountered a cartoon where the majority of it consits of yelling and screeching for no reason.

I made Image for the Cadance thread and Yarma actually wants it.

For some reason.

I said this on the stream, but stuff like Fairly OddParents at its best gives you a break sometimes (also, the acting and writing is leagues better).

That's wonderful, but it doesn't really represent the day as a whole.

Needs more Snoop and Skeletor, basically.

Does some sort of browser addon exist that would give you a list of icons to quick add to forum posts through bbcode img tags with a single click, just working off of imgur or something? Because if it doesn't, it really should. If I had any idea how to code I would jump on that. And then probably get tired of it after half an hour and give up, but still I would initially be excited about it.

In all actuality I'm glad this happened today because it means I can get some work done. Plus, all the seriousposting is in IRC now, which is easier to check.

LYAT is so much fun that I'm actually wondering whether I belong in TRS anymore. Tonight we're going to come back to the original threads, and there are going to be a lot of posts to the tune of "Well that was fun but I'm glad it's over", and I'm going to sit there staring at all those posts, not understanding in the slightest.
Get it out of our systems? I can't get it out of my system because LYAT is my system. I just didn't know it until today.

If I had been less addled, I'd have gone to my desktop comp that can handle large quantities of Snoop and emptyquoted every single one of them. :snoop:

I think it's the unconscious leaking in to the conscious, what jungian theory considered to be the cause of schizophrenic and schizotypal syptoms.

It's a style of humor, there's really nothing to explain. Either it's funny to you or it's not.

(If it's not, that doesn't make you an idiot or anything. It's a matter of personal taste and state of mind.)

The joke is that there's nothing to get. And everyone is yelling loudly to obscure that fact. It's the inverse of comedy take to its furthest extremes. Every single comment is grounds for mocking. No reason needs to be given except the fact that it exists. If you ask why everyone is pointing and laughing at you, they will mock you for that. The best possible summing up of this I've ever seen was actually in The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. (Quick primer if someone's never heard of it, the premise is that this is an elder devil writing advice to a younger devil about how to do his devilish tempting work. It's pretty fascinating reading even if you don't agree with its religious foundation):
But flippancy is the best of all. In the first place it is very economical. Only a clever human can make a real Joke about virtue, or indeed about anything else; any of them can be trained to talk as if virtue were funny. Among flippant people the Joke is always assumed to have been made. No one actually makes it; but every serious subject is discussed in a manner which implies that they have already found a ridiculous side to it. If prolonged, the habit of Flippancy builds up around a man the finest armor plating against the Enemy that I know, and it is quite free from the dangers inherent in the other sources of laughter. It is a thousand miles away from joy it deadens, instead of sharpening, the intellect; and it excites no affection between those who practice it
There's also an audio version of The Screwtape Letters read by John Cleese. It is one of my favorite things.

Wow, that really brings it home that thing about the more things change, the more they stay the same :starity:

Also something about originality :-I

I'd rather not have this forum after today - it's been fun, but it's been a bit close to the bad old days too. I don't want to be that shit again, really. Maybe we could lock it away behind a usergroup like OMT & The Gala subfora?

I would like to keep the theme and the smilies, though.

Finally I really meant what I said about Pithers AV, and Hyper is cool for reals.
