Reporting an issue: On the "Learn" theme, the book horse is lacking wings. This needs to be fixed. :rainbert:

Help, help everything is off to the side on my end, probably because of my semi-narrow browser window.

Also the egosearch view is horribly broken, too

Not sure about the former, but I confirm and understand the issue with the latter. I'll add it to the list of things to fix in the next revision tonight.

Here's a helpful image:

Basically there's a massive gutter on one side, but almost none on the other. This fixes itself once the browser window gets wide enough. That said it's probably not a priority since I needed to increase my browser window width by like, all of three pixels and it's fine now.

The old and new themes are all fantastic, and I'm loving the [media] tag. Glad the old threads are coming back, too. Thanks a million for the hard work, Cosmo, seriously. :flutterunsmith:

In terms of issues, the text and element sizing seems really off from how they were before. Some text elements (the post text, profile stuff under the gangtag, submit and editor buttons in Quick Reply, some other stuff) feel way too small in comparision to the rest. I had to put up the zoom feature a few times in my browser, and even then the proportions seem off and some text is still tiny while others (like the Post Reply button) are quite big.

I mean maybe it's just me but I took this screenshot at 125% zoom with Chrome and it's still all a bit off and at times hard to read, for my tastes.

If anyone is wondering what the lightbulb icon on the Shine-derived themes is, that's there to indicate whether a user is online or not, similar to the banner that the Ponisilver-derived themes have. It'll be in the theme's "lit" color when the user is online or gray if not.

Now Applejack in Perry's avatar will forever stare at a gray lightbulb. :smirk:

Actually I have a query regarding that: right now it's relying solely on the color contrast to tell whether or not a user is online. Would it be too much of a pain to alter is so that the bulb is additionally filled in when the user is online? It's an incredibly minor complaint, sure, but I feel like on some themes (Shine at least) the color contrast is just a bit too mild to easily tell apart at a glance.

I looked into this when I was adding the feature, and unfortunately this is not possible. I do have one idea that might help improve contrast, but it won't be by filling in the bulb, unfortunately.

It looks like Chrome in Windows is running a bit small with its font-sizes? Safari on Mac seems to be alright (it line breaks at "(the post text" by default for me). I can see if I can broker a compromise, but it might be a case of Windows just running too small with its fonts for a comparable size. Either Windows users would have too small text, or Mac users would have too big text.

Hmm. Yes, it looks like there are a few responsive styling issues I will need to look into. That, and the left margin when the screen is JUST wide enough to not be in mobile mode.

The max-width of the new themes isn't wide enough for the your posts/new posts/unread posts/unanswered topics views to fully display their columns. Notice how the last post column gets squished on Love, vs. how it is displayed on Ponisilver:

100% zoom on Safari for Mac for example:

(fake edit: as I was posting this, I see that the Post Review hasn't had its left margin fixed. It's probably broken in Ponisilver too)

Yeah, this is the same as the "ego search" bug that was reported earlier. The margins are so tight that having whitespace between <dt> and <dd> tags throws it off like this (the browser will render the whitespace between the <dt> and the <dd> by default, which takes up a few pixels on its own). Most of the other pages were fixed before launch, but I must have missed this one.

Oh, so it's not just a .png of a bulb then. Yeah fair enough. It's probably fine on most themes but I did notice it being a little wonky on Shine at least.

This color legend on the PM inbox view has a white background color in all themes. In dark themes, this causes the text within to not be visible. Compare how it appears in Love vs. Play:

I created an own color scheme for Shine that suits more my current taste.
I'm using the addon Stylish for Firefox to change the theme.
It's not perfect but if you like it you can copy the style https://pastebin.com/raw/vm1C8aJS and add it to your list.

With some small modifications it can also work for Love and Race as well.

Something fishy going on in my Firefox and Safari - page is not filling the browser width and that's making the thread title text crash into other stuff.

Actually re: the sizing issues noted earlier, I noticed the post body has a different font from I think just about everything else. I dunno which'd make more sense, switching stuff like signature text and the timestamp row to whatever font the post body uses or just changing the post font to Verdana, but it's a little inconsistent looking right now. In a way I prefer having a different font from the usual Verdana but admittedly I think Verdana is probably easier to read.

e: This ties into the sizing stuff because whatever the post font is, it's slightly smaller than equivalent size Verdana. Which makes the post content smaller in comparison to other stuff.

Yeah, looks like Verdana should have been put in the body {} definition, or a manually-defined Trebuchet didn't get removed. Also, some buttons (such as the "Save draft", "Preview", and "Submit" trio) now have rounded-off corners where before they were square.

Is there any way to make it not try to open the full list inside a pop-up window? Maybe a PHPBB mod? Pop-up windows should have been phased out as soon as smartphones were invented.

Hmm. Well, this is in Firefox on iOS. Maybe it requires some extra CSS wrangling, like how the text entry box is also rounded with an inner shadow. I could swear the buttons were themed properly before, but I guess we'll never know.

Oh, and poll results are also in Trebuchet, if it matters.

The rounded buttons are definitely an iOS thing. Even in Safari on a Mac they're square, but iOS Safari rounds them.

All of the above issues should now be fixed (except perhaps Perry's font-size issue and the Twilight silhouette issue). Specifically:
  • Smilies popup now looks good
  • The responsive bug RIP Syndrome reported is fixed
  • Egosearch is fixed
  • I tried removing Trebuchet MS from the list of fonts for post text, which might help with the perception that the text is too small/dense. Verdana is a bit wider and bigger at the same point-size. I didn't see it because Lucida Grande trumps it (and is available on Macs)
  • I couldn't fill the online icon, but I did add a text-shadow "highlight" which may help visibility
  • The rigging of the PM legend was fixed to be the same as the quote background, which should therefore fix the issue on dark themes
  • Post review should have the correct offset on both Ponisilver and Shine themes
  • I moved the pagination links down a notch on the Bookmarks page and related UCP pages

When you click "mark topics read" in the Race theme, you get a blank pop-up. This happens in both mobile and desktop.

Something very strange is happening with the smileys. First I thought it was just Edge, but it happens on every browser now:

Also, doublepost for visibility: editing posts creates a humongous whitespace:

e: This doesn't happen on lengthy posts, as seen above, so it looks like it's trying to stretch edited posts to some minimum height

You can also just put in a raw URL, and it should also be embedded upon posting:
please tell me there's a way to opt out of this if i want to link something without it auto-embedding.

I hate forums software that overhelps like that

You can stick it in a [url] tag, and it won't parse the tweet.
